Oct. 10th, 2018 05:28 pmI've just now been thinking about how callout posts have changed since I started seeing them.
They used to be like "This person is horrible and I demand that everyone shun them, because I don't want to admit that I communicated wrong with them!" Now they're more like "This person draws porn I don't like! Clearly the solution is to meticulously organize that porn so I can link to each one while screaming at everyone why they shouldn't look at it and ignoring how this action can encourage minors to look at it!"
Minors know they're not supposed to look at porn, but if they're inclined to, they will no matter what. And when you slap the links right onto their dashes and get them into the kind of crowd that thinks it's cool to dig through porn with the excuse of having callout material, WELL... what are you really, honestly expecting them to do with that?
And people use the excuse of "callouts help people know who to avoid" well... I want to avoid people who think they're justified, so I guess that's not ENTIRELY wrong.

And yeah, if an anti's claiming to want to protect minors while in the same breath also linking them to porn they shouldn't be viewing anyway, they're doing more harm than good. Which is, of course, the anti credo.

To be fair about reporting I have seen a post circulating with info on how to report AO3 to the FBI... I just don't know what they think is going to happen.
