Pillowfort PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF.  It feels like everyone just goes there to be babied like they want to be on tumblr but can't.  It doesn't feel like a space for artists to help each other grow.  Tumblr's environment is obviously too hostile to be livable, but Pillowfort seems to go too far in the opposite direction.  Give me a happy medium, PLEASE.  Give me Writscrib.

It's still way more palatable than Tumblr, if only for the fact that it has such basics as comments and privacy settings. (I don't just hate Tumblr for its community, but because it's fundamentally broken for much more than quick image sharing).

But why people are whining about a useful and entirely optional feature? Jumped in anyway and pointed out DW has something similar - but you have to go looking to find it, so it's hardly something you're going to go looking at and finding scary things on by accident. I don't see why that would be so terrible.

Oh, of course. Function-wise, it's great. Userbase-wise, ehhh. Jury's still out. I do like that a lot of people seem to be against the anti mindset, but still.

I feel like their reasoning is "because not everyone tags and someone could click on the global feed and see something bad!!!!" To which I say "too???? fucking???? bad??? Then don't use the global feed????" If it's something you could toggle on/off like the NSFW filters, then people who don't want it would never have to see it. But I guess every single feature has to be applicable/usable by every fucking person ever, and telling someone "well just don't use it???" is mean now??? Not every feature on a website will be useful for everyone. That's the way it goes. But if a large portion of the userbase says "hey this would be neat and really useful for me" and the folks who don't want it can just turn it off or not use it, where's the harm? :/

Which is exactly why I pointed out the DW version, which isn't even a switch! But why add it if you need to go looking.. so it's THERE for people who want it? Arrrghh!
