Sometimes it's necessary to kill bugs, and I will do it when they're causing actual problems, but that doesn't mean I have to like it, and I know I'm not the only one who finds it pretty fucked up for people to enjoy snuffing out a real actual life that can't even help being what those people don't like.

I was thinking about why Star vs. The Forces of Evil is so great, and basically it's because it initially showed the monsters as evil and made it look like Eclipsa was gonna be a big vilain, and then they turned out to actually be really nice people who get treated like shit for being different, and the racist Mewmans are mostly only that way because they think they're supposed to be, and their actions have consequences that hurt everyone.  And nobody we've seen so far is shown to be irredeemable (except Toffee because he knows full well how evil he is and he likes it).

You'd think with the whole "fiction affects reality" craze, someone would've figured out how to learn from this fiction that it's dangerous to assume someone is bad just because other people talk about them with scary words.

I've just now been thinking about how callout posts have changed since I started seeing them.

I know it doesn't really matter because they only exist in fantasy worlds anyway, but I'm not much of a fan of using "quadruped with added wings" creatures to my own world.  If I'm making things to live somewhere, I need to be able to make sense of HOW they live and I need them to have anatomy that I can draw in ways that make sense.  Which is why I'm currently doodling gryphons as dinocats instead of the usual "four-legged birds with cat butts."

Also my unicorns are more goat-like because "regular horse with a horn" is just boring design to me.

not posting much lately because I have too many thoughts and emotions and I can't seem to untangle them the right way

While I hope more people will come to this site... it is nice to have a quiet and peaceful space.  I like how the reading page is a separate thing I have to click rather than just automatically seeing other people's activity as soon as I come here.  Like, obviously I want to see it, but this way I feel like I have breathing room.

One problem that makes tumblr so terrible is that there's no reasonable way to limit who can see your posts. You can make your whole blog password-protected, which is dumb if you want to like, ever show off any art, and you can make individual posts private, but then you have to manually give the link to everyone you do want to show it to, and it's just terrible to have "almost completely private" and "public to everyone" with nothing in between. I like how here, you can make a post so only perople you trust can see it, like, not even all followers, because you don't have to put everyone on your access list.

more people need to be active here because this is like the only place besides discord where I even want to be active anymore

As an orchid fanatic, "Vanda root porn" is a phrase I never expected to see and yet completely understand.

Cross stitch tradition tells you to make the back of the piece look almost as nice as the front but don't give a reason other than "you're supposed to." People who just do it for fun (as it should be) will say it doesn't matter how the back looks. I say it does matter, but for an Actual Reason, which is pretty much just FUCK attempting to shove your needle through specific points in an incomprehensible pile of stringy fuck and LITERALLY HOW does anyone let themselves keep doing that

gotta love tumblr's reminders of how broken it is while an Entire Fandom is trying to do a Time Sensitive Thing

I still feel the need to post things on writscrib and probably will never not

how to save drafts here:

- make a "drafts" tag

- make the post private

- copy/paste into a new post if you ever feel like actually posting it

because it's annoying to rely on just the autosave which only saves one draft at a time, if you're like me and just sort of pile shit up

The thing that bugs me about Ducktales is that the characters are anthro animals but they don't do things related to their species. They're basically humans with animal looks and pun names. I like how Bojack Horseman does it where the animal people actually kind of act like their species. Mr. Peanutbutter is pretty mmuch like if an actual dog had human intelligence and asshole capability. The bird people fly with their arms. Fish people live in water. The dolphin made a song about killing babies.

If you're gonna make a furry show, please make your characters not just basically humans in fursuits (or feathersuits) (unless that's literally what your story is about).

(But also don't make the Duck family TOO accurate to real ducks because it IS A CHILDREN'S SHOW)

People naturally compare Disenchantment to Matt Groening's other cartoons, but really it's more like Gravity Falls with Matt Groening's art style and humor

I mean, it's not fair to expect it to BE Gravity Falls either, but... literally the only things in common with Futurama so far are the art style, a couple voice actors, and Luci's Bender-ish personality

Wander's so CUDDLY and CUTE I wanna hug him and kiss him and ruffle his fur with my face and rub his fluffy belly and kiss him more... he's so squishy and warm and fuzzy and cute and good and sweet and soft and warm and cute...

the thing that amuses me about gay moments in children's shows is when the fandom is collectively cheering for them to the point you're not even seeing any other spoilers
